Basic Logger Rescue (First Aid/CPR for Loggers)

Course Description: Logger Rescue was founded in Berlin, NH in 1987 to meet the needs of the forest product industry, to help educate those people who fall under OSHA guidelines 1910 & 1928.  It is a course that is geared towards loggers to teach First Aid and CPR with particular reference on using equipment that is available to them in the field.

Advanced Logger Rescue

Course DescriptionIn 1994, Advanced Logger Rescue was designed to further educate the industry in how to become the rescuers until the local fire and rescue personnel arrive on the scene, to protect both the patient and the rescuers from becoming victims themselves.  This course takes place outdoors at a working job site. Accident scenarios are set up by Dana and his staff and the members of the class try to figure out ways to assist the “injured” logger.

Logger Rescue A.L.E.R.T. Five Team

            The Logger Rescue A.L.E.R.T.  FIVE (Advanced Logger Extrication Rescue Team) is a team comprised of individuals who are loggers, EMS Fire personnel, EMS Rescue personnel, foresters etc., who are all specifically trained in the LOGGER RESCUE methods. These individuals respond as a team to logging accidents in their area.

Professional Chainsaw Operators Workshop    

Course Description: This recently developed course is an outdoor course where Dana and his instructors discuss the inherent dangers of logging, chainsaw maintenance, basic and advanced felling techniques, limbing and bucking, while encompassing the balance between making money and staying safe by using these new alternatives.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

            Dana B. Hinkley recently resigned from the Berlin Fire Department after 15 years of full time Fire and EMS experience.  He specialized in heavy rescue. 

            Dana was born in the small logging community of Magalloway, Maine.  He worked in the logging business with his dad for more than 20 years. When he is not teaching his logger rescue programs, he can be found running his 250D Timberjack.

            Dana has taught his courses in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Arkansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina and in several Canadian provinces. He is willing and available to teach in any state.
